Haier India is planning to invest ₹7,000 crore in a new manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh, marking its largest investment in the country to date. The proposed plant will establish the home appliances and consumer electronics manufacturer’s presence in South India, adding to its existing manufacturing operations in Pune, Maharashtra, and Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked around 250 acres in Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district for the proposed facility, according to reports. The investment is expected to be implemented in two phases, with ₹4,500 crore planned for the first phase and a further ₹2,500 crore for the second phase by 2032.

Air Conditioners, Washing Machines and TVs to Be Manufactured

The proposed facility will manufacture a range of consumer appliances, including air conditioners, washing machines and televisions. Production is also expected to cover smaller appliances such as air purifiers and kitchen equipment.

The first phase is targeted to become operational by 2028. The project is expected to generate employment for around 6,000 people directly at the facility and another 15,000 indirectly by 2032, taking the projected employment impact to 21,000 jobs.

The investment comes as Haier India pursues an ambitious growth strategy, targeting revenue of ₹22,000 crore by 2028. Establishing a manufacturing base in southern India could strengthen its access to regional markets and export-linked supply chains.

Satyavedu Strengthens Andhra Pradesh’s Electronics Manufacturing Corridor

Satyavedu lies within the broader Tirupati–Chennai–Nellore industrial corridor, which has attracted investments across electronics, consumer appliances and component manufacturing. The region benefits from its proximity to Sri City, a major industrial hub near the Andhra Pradesh–Tamil Nadu border.

The wider manufacturing ecosystem includes companies such as Foxconn, Panasonic and Flex, while other appliance manufacturers and component suppliers have established or expanded operations across the region. Electronics manufacturing clusters in Tirupati also host companies involved in consumer electronics and component production.

Connectivity is another factor supporting the location. National Highway 16 links the region with Chennai and other industrial centres, while Chennai, Ennore and Kattupalli ports provide access to maritime logistics. Airports in Chennai and Tirupati further support passenger and cargo connectivity.

Investment Could Boost Regional Manufacturing and Employment

If implemented as planned, Haier India’s investment would add substantial manufacturing capacity to the southern industrial belt and deepen the region’s consumer electronics supply chain. The project’s longer-term impact will depend on execution across both investment phases, the development of supporting infrastructure and the pace at which production scales up.

For Andhra Pradesh, the proposed facility represents another potential addition to its expanding electronics and appliance manufacturing base, with the prospect of new jobs and stronger industrial activity around Tirupati and Satyavedu.
