Apollo Pipes is preparing for a significant expansion beyond its core piping business, with the company approving an investment of up to ₹300 crore to enter the tiles, ceramics and allied building materials segments.
The move marks a strategic shift for the company as it looks to broaden its presence in India’s building materials market and tap opportunities beyond pipes and fittings. Alongside the proposed expansion, the company’s board has approved the issue of 31 lakh convertible warrants on a preferential basis at ₹610 per warrant, which is expected to raise ₹189.10 crore.
The funds are expected to provide additional financial support for the company’s planned capital expenditure as it establishes its presence in the new categories.
Apollo Pipes plans to create new subsidiaries for its tiles and ceramics operations. This structure will allow the company to manage the new businesses separately while continuing to focus on its established piping operations.
The proposed diversification comes at a time when building materials companies are increasingly expanding across adjacent product categories. For Apollo Pipes, the strategy could provide opportunities to leverage its existing distribution network, which includes more than 300 dealers and around 15,000 retailers, to introduce new products to customers.
However, entering tiles and ceramics also brings a different competitive and operating environment. The segments are capital-intensive and exposed to fluctuations in raw material and energy costs, particularly natural gas prices, which can have a significant impact on ceramic manufacturing margins.
The preferential warrant issue also represents a higher pricing level compared with the company’s previous preferential allotment. Apollo Pipes had issued warrants at ₹550 each in April 2025, while the latest issue has been approved at ₹610 per warrant.
The company’s expansion comes alongside efforts to consolidate its existing piping business. In June 2026, its board approved a Scheme of Arrangement involving the amalgamation of KML Tradelinks and Kisan Mouldings with Apollo Pipes.
Apollo Pipes reported in its first-quarter FY27 results that fluctuations in polymer prices continued to affect margins in the PVC piping industry.
With the proposed ₹300 crore investment and ₹189.10 crore capital raising, Apollo Pipes is positioning itself for a broader role in the building materials market. The success of the strategy will ultimately depend on how quickly the new businesses are established, integrated into its distribution network and converted into sustainable revenue growth.
