Hyderabad’s ₹1,090 Crore H-CITI Project to Add Flyovers and Underpasses

Hyderabad is set for a major upgrade to its urban road infrastructure with the H-CITI project, a ₹1,090-crore initiative aimed at improving traffic movement across some of the city’s busiest junctions.

The project will be implemented in two phases and will include the construction of seven flyovers and seven underpasses across six major junctions. The planned grade separators are expected to improve traffic flow and reduce delays along important residential and commercial corridors.

The first phase will focus on key locations including Jubilee Hills Check Post, the KBR Park entrance and Mugdha Junction. These areas experience significant traffic movement, making them important points for intervention under the proposed infrastructure plan.

The second phase will cover Agrasen Junction and other important stretches of the city. Once completed, the project is expected to alter traffic movement patterns around several major intersections, particularly in the KBR Park area.

The H-CITI project forms part of Hyderabad’s broader efforts to strengthen its urban transport infrastructure as traffic volumes continue to increase. Flyovers and underpasses are being planned to provide grade-separated movement at congested junctions, allowing vehicles to avoid intersections where traffic queues frequently build up.

The two-phase execution is expected to take around two years. During this period, traffic management will remain an important consideration, particularly around junctions where construction activity could temporarily affect existing road capacity.

The project also comes at a time when Hyderabad continues to expand as a major technology, commercial and residential centre. Growth in employment districts and new development corridors has increased pressure on the city’s road network, making improvements to junction capacity increasingly important.

The impact of the project will ultimately depend on how effectively the new flyovers and underpasses integrate with existing roads and traffic patterns. Better coordination during construction will also be essential to limit disruption for commuters.

With an investment of ₹1,090 crore, the H-CITI project represents a significant addition to Hyderabad’s ongoing transport infrastructure programme. Its successful completion could provide smoother movement through several congested areas and support the city’s growing mobility requirements.
