Andhra Pradesh has approved another major industrial investment by allotting 93.43 acres of land to Berry Alloys Ltd. for the development of a ₹1,200 crore integrated manganese and steel materials complex at the Bobbili Growth Centre in Vizianagaram district. The project is expected to strengthen the state’s expanding steel manufacturing ecosystem while generating 813 direct employment opportunities.

The land has been allotted following approval from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), with the government allocating 90 acres of industrial land along with an additional 3.43 acres to create a contiguous project site. The company will establish the facility at the Bobbili Growth Centre, one of the key industrial zones in north coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The upcoming manufacturing complex will integrate multiple facilities under a single campus, including a manganese sinter plant, a direct reduced iron (DRI) unit, a carbon paste plant and a 115 MW captive power facility. Once operational, the project is expected to produce 0.5 million tonnes of manganese sinter annually, around 330,000 tonnes of DRI and 60,000 tonnes of carbon paste, supporting India’s growing steel industry.

The investment comes at a time when India is working towards achieving 300 million tonnes of annual steel production capacity by 2030 under the National Steel Policy. The expansion of domestic steelmaking is expected to drive higher demand for manganese-based ferro alloys, which play a vital role in improving the strength, durability and wear resistance of construction steel, automotive steel, railway tracks and engineering products.

Berry Alloys already operates manufacturing facilities in Vizianagaram and exports ferro-alloy products to international markets across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America through the nearby Visakhapatnam Port. The company manufactures ferro manganese, silico manganese and other specialised alloy products for steelmakers.

The latest investment further reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s strategy of developing a comprehensive steel and metals manufacturing ecosystem by leveraging its mineral resources, port connectivity and industrial infrastructure. The government has also directed Berry Alloys and its supplier ecosystem to register within the state, ensuring that the project creates a wider industrial base while increasing GST revenue and supporting long-term manufacturing-led economic growth.
