Apple has announced a fresh investment of ₹100 crore in India to strengthen renewable energy adoption and expand clean power capacity across its supply chain. The initiative is being undertaken in partnership with CleanMax and marks another major step in Apple’s long term sustainability strategy in the country.
According to the company, the investment will support the development of more than 150 MW of renewable energy capacity in India. Apple stated that the initial phase of the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power nearly 1.5 lakh Indian households every year.
The company said the initiative is aimed at accelerating the use of renewable energy across its supply chain while reducing carbon emissions linked to manufacturing and operations. Apple also indicated that the renewable energy capacity could be expanded further over the coming years depending on future demand and sustainability goals.
Apple and CleanMax have previously worked together on rooftop solar projects that supply renewable energy to Apple offices and retail stores in India. Those projects helped Apple operate its India facilities entirely on renewable energy, reinforcing the company’s global environmental commitments.
India has emerged as a key market for Apple not only in manufacturing and retail expansion but also in clean energy transition. With increasing focus on green infrastructure and sustainable industrial growth, large scale renewable investments by global technology companies are expected to support India’s clean energy targets.
Industry experts believe such investments could encourage more multinational companies to adopt renewable energy solutions within their supply chains. The move is also expected to boost demand for solar and renewable infrastructure projects across the country.
Apple continues to expand its presence in India through manufacturing partnerships, retail growth and sustainability initiatives. The latest investment highlights the growing role of renewable energy in the company’s future plans while supporting India’s broader transition toward cleaner and greener energy systems.
