L&T Bags Mega JSW Steel Order Worth Up to ₹15,000 Crore for Expansion Projects

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured one of its biggest domestic metals sector contracts after winning a mega order from JSW Steel for large scale steel expansion projects in India. The order, classified by L&T in the ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore category, marks a significant milestone for the company’s minerals and metals business vertical.

The project is part of JSW Steel’s long term expansion strategy aimed at increasing its crude steel production capacity from 35 million tonnes per annum to more than 50 million tonnes by 2031. Under the agreement, L&T will execute key process infrastructure works across multiple brownfield and greenfield expansion projects.

The engineering major will install critical facilities including blast furnaces and steel melt shops at JSW Steel plants located mainly in Ballari, Karnataka, and Paradip, Odisha. These projects are expected to strengthen India’s steel manufacturing ecosystem and support the country’s growing infrastructure and industrial demand.

DK Sen, Advisor to CMD for Development Projects and Minerals & Metals at L&T, described the order as a defining moment for the company’s metals business. He highlighted the long standing relationship between L&T and JSW Steel and said the partnership reflects a shared commitment toward scale, innovation and nation building.

The order win also comes shortly after L&T announced its quarterly earnings and growth outlook for FY27. The company has guided for 10 to 12 percent revenue growth and expects similar margin levels compared to the previous fiscal year.

Industry experts believe India’s steel sector is entering a major investment cycle, driven by infrastructure expansion, manufacturing growth and rising domestic demand. Large scale projects such as this are expected to create substantial opportunities for engineering, construction and industrial equipment companies in the coming years.
