IHG Hotels & Resorts has taken a significant step in strengthening its footprint in South India by signing a management agreement with Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts to develop a 200-key Holiday Inn property in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. The upcoming hotel is expected to open in the first quarter of 2029 and will cater to the growing demand for business hospitality in the region.

Located near Chennai, Sriperumbudur has rapidly evolved into one of Tamil Nadu’s most prominent industrial and manufacturing hubs. With a strong presence of automobile, electronics, and engineering companies, the region has witnessed a steady rise in corporate travel and long-stay requirements. This has created a clear demand for organized and high-quality hotel infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for global hospitality brands.

The new Holiday Inn property will be positioned to serve both business and leisure travellers, aligning with IHG’s strategy to expand its midscale and upper midscale portfolio across high-growth markets in India. The brand has consistently focused on delivering comfort, convenience, and modern amenities, making it a preferred choice among corporate guests.

This agreement also marks the third collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts, reflecting a strong and growing partnership in the Indian hospitality sector. The project is expected to contribute to the formalization of hotel supply in the Sriperumbudur micro-market, which is currently driven by industrial expansion and infrastructure development.

IHG’s broader India strategy remains focused on an asset-light model through management agreements, enabling scalable growth without direct ownership. Currently, the company operates multiple hotels across key cities in Tamil Nadu and continues to see strong long-term potential in the region.

With increasing investments in infrastructure and manufacturing, locations like Sriperumbudur are emerging as critical growth corridors. The addition of this Holiday Inn hotel is expected to support business travel demand while reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as a key destination for industrial and economic growth.
