L&T expands into industrial electronics with new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore

Larsen & Toubro has taken a significant step forward in its diversification strategy by entering the industrial electronics segment with the launch of a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This move marks the beginning of a dedicated business vertical named L&T Electronic Products & Systems, also known as LTEPS, which will focus on building advanced electronic systems for both domestic and global markets.

The new manufacturing operations at Coimbatore have already commenced with two production lines, offering electronics manufacturing services to a wide range of industries. While the production base is located in Tamil Nadu, the LTEPS division will be headquartered in Bengaluru, positioning the business close to India’s technology and innovation ecosystem.

This strategic expansion aligns with L&T’s long-term vision of strengthening its technology leadership while contributing to India’s growing push towards self-reliance in high-value manufacturing. The company is leveraging its existing expertise in strategic electronics to scale into broader industrial applications, including power electronics, mobility solutions, industrial automation, robotics, and communication platforms.

A key highlight of this initiative is the integrated approach that LTEPS plans to adopt. The company will combine in-house research and development with global technology partnerships and advanced testing infrastructure to deliver high-quality, market-ready solutions. This positions L&T to compete in a rapidly evolving sector that is witnessing strong demand due to digital transformation and automation trends across industries.

Looking ahead, L&T has ambitious expansion plans for the Coimbatore campus. The company intends to develop a 40-acre industrial electronics hub that will cover the entire value chain, from design and engineering to manufacturing, testing, and validation. This integrated ecosystem is expected to enhance efficiency, reduce dependency on imports, and support the growth of India’s electronics manufacturing landscape.
