Jindal Stainless has taken a significant step in strengthening its global manufacturing footprint by commissioning a 1.2 million tonnes per annum stainless steel melt shop in Indonesia ahead of schedule. This development has increased the company’s total melting capacity to 4.2 million tonnes per annum, including its existing 3 million tonnes capacity in India. The move reflects the company’s continued focus on expanding its presence in key international markets while ensuring raw material security.
Alongside its global expansion, the company is actively enhancing its downstream capabilities in India. It is preparing to commission a 1.1 million tonnes per annum Hot Rolled Annealed Pickled line and a 0.17 million tonnes per annum cold rolling facility at its Jajpur plant in Odisha. These projects are expected to be operational by FY27 and form part of an earlier announced investment plan of ₹1,900 crore.
In addition, Jindal Stainless has earmarked a fresh investment of ₹900 crore to expand its cold rolling capacity at its Hisar and Kharagpur units. These facilities are expected to be commissioned by FY28, further strengthening the company’s value added product portfolio. Following these expansions, the company’s cold rolling capacity is projected to rise significantly, contributing a larger share to its overall production mix.
The company’s leadership has highlighted that these strategic investments are aligned with long term growth plans and increasing domestic demand. With a strong export presence across major global markets, Jindal Stainless is positioning itself to capture emerging opportunities while supporting India’s infrastructure and manufacturing growth story. The expansion is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve product mix, and drive sustainable growth in the coming years.
