DRA Homes has strengthened its presence along Chennai’s fast growing Old Mahabalipuram Road corridor with the acquisition of 3.91 acres of land at Karanai, located off OMR. The land parcel will be developed into a mid segment residential community featuring more than 450 housing units, with an estimated gross development value of around ₹500 crore.
The update was shared by Ranjeeth Rathod, Managing Director of DRA Homes, through a post on LinkedIn. According to him, the upcoming project will focus on thoughtfully designed homes that combine modern architecture with practical living spaces suited for today’s urban families.
The OMR corridor has emerged as one of Chennai’s most dynamic real estate destinations over the past decade. Driven by the presence of major IT parks, employment hubs and expanding infrastructure, the region continues to attract strong residential demand. The ongoing Chennai Metro Rail expansion along OMR is also expected to significantly enhance connectivity across the corridor in the coming years.
Rathod described OMR as comparable to Navi Mumbai in terms of its future potential, noting that the corridor is steadily evolving into what many industry observers call “New Chennai.” The region already benefits from strong social infrastructure including reputed schools, hospitals, shopping centres, sports facilities and leisure destinations. Its proximity to East Coast Road further strengthens its residential appeal.
The upcoming DRA Homes project is expected to follow the company’s established design philosophy that focuses on contemporary architecture, functional layouts and environmentally responsible construction. The homes will prioritise natural ventilation, efficient space planning and green building principles.
Key design features are expected to include no common walls between units, well planned layouts and generous open spaces within the community. High rise buildings and carefully curated lifestyle amenities are also likely to form part of the development.
With Chennai’s residential market witnessing steady demand, particularly along the OMR and ECR corridors, the new project is expected to attract homebuyers looking for well connected housing options close to major employment centres in the city.
