Kris City Industrial Project Regains Momentum in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore District

The Kris City industrial project in Andhra Pradesh’s SPSR Nellore district is once again in focus, driven by administrative changes and renewed push from the state government to accelerate industrial development. With district boundaries redrawn, the large scale project is being positioned as a key growth engine for the region and an important node in India’s industrial expansion plans.

District Collector Himanshu Shukla recently inspected the land earmarked for Kris City, signalling the administration’s intent to fast track execution. The project is being developed with an estimated investment of around Rs 1,100 crore and spans nearly 7,500 acres, making it one of the largest industrial initiatives in the district. According to officials, major infrastructure works under Phase I are targeted for completion before the end of 2026.

Kris City is designed to offer large contiguous land parcels ranging from 100 to 200 acres, catering to industries that require scale, flexibility and integrated logistics. A major highlight of the project is the planned development of logistics hubs and warehousing facilities that will be seamlessly connected to the nearby Krishnapatnam Port. Located just about 10 km from the port, the project is expected to benefit from efficient export and import connectivity, reducing turnaround times for industries operating from the region.

The strategic location of Kris City is further strengthened by its access to national highways, rail networks and nearby airports, making it attractive for manufacturing, logistics and export oriented units. Officials believe this multimodal connectivity will play a crucial role in attracting both domestic and global investors looking to establish operations in southern India.

Kris City also forms an integral part of the Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing India’s manufacturing competitiveness and boosting regional economic growth. By aligning industrial development with infrastructure and port led connectivity, the project is expected to generate employment, attract investments and contribute to the broader economic development of Andhra Pradesh.

With administrative backing, defined timelines and strategic positioning, Kris City is steadily emerging as a significant industrial destination, reinforcing Nellore’s role in the state’s long term industrial roadmap.
