RINL’s Vizag Steel Plant Sets Record With Highest Ever Single Day Hot Metal Production

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited’s Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has achieved a significant operational milestone by recording its highest ever single day hot metal production of 21,205 tonnes on December 15. The achievement marks a strong turnaround in production momentum and reflects the plant’s sustained efforts to stabilise and enhance operations over the past several weeks.

The production milestone was the outcome of a steady and consistent rise in daily output through early December. Hot metal production stood at around 17,000 tonnes at the beginning of the month and gradually increased as operational stability improved across the plant’s three blast furnaces. The facility crossed the 20,000 tonne mark on multiple occasions before registering the all time high on December 15.

Officials attribute the improved performance to effective operational planning, better coordination between departments, and the disciplined execution of production strategies on the ground. The contribution from all three blast furnaces was crucial, with each unit operating at optimal levels to support the record output.

Industry experts have lauded the workforce for its role in achieving the milestone, noting that the plant’s employees have consistently demonstrated resilience and technical expertise, even while operating under challenging conditions. The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has previously faced disruptions due to natural calamities and market pressures, making the latest achievement particularly noteworthy.
