John Cockerill India Limited has announced that it has secured a significant contract worth approximately ₹80 crore from Tata Steel Limited. The order involves the engineering, design, manufacturing, and supply of a Push-Pull Pickling Line and Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP) for Tata Steel’s Tinplate Division facility located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
The contract, which falls under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements, also includes supervision of the erection and commissioning process. This ensures that the project will meet contractual performance standards, with completion targeted for the middle of 2027.
Under the agreement, John Cockerill India will deliver all critical equipment required for the pickling line and acid regeneration system. These facilities play a vital role in steel processing, enhancing efficiency, quality, and environmental sustainability by recycling acid used in the treatment process.
The company clarified that the deal does not constitute a related-party transaction, as neither John Cockerill’s promoters nor any promoter group companies hold shares in Tata Steel. The order has been executed on an arm’s length basis, highlighting the purely commercial nature of the engagement.
This win further strengthens John Cockerill India’s position in the steel plant equipment segment, where it has been a key player in supplying cutting-edge technologies for decades. For Tata Steel, the installation of advanced pickling and regeneration facilities aligns with its strategy to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Industry experts note that investments in modern steel processing infrastructure are essential as demand for high-quality steel continues to rise in India. With this project scheduled for completion in 2027, Tata Steel’s Tinplate Division is expected to benefit from upgraded processing capabilities that support its long-term growth.
The collaboration between John Cockerill India and Tata Steel underscores the growing importance of sustainable, technology-driven solutions in the steel sector.
