Asian Paints, the country’s largest paint manufacturer, has announced a major expansion with plans to set up a new manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The company will be investing between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 crore in this greenfield project, reaffirming its leadership in the Indian paints industry.

The proposed facility will be dedicated to the production of water-based paints, a segment witnessing strong demand due to its eco-friendly properties and increasing acceptance in both residential and industrial applications. The plant is expected to have an annual installed capacity of four lakh kilolitres (kl), taking Asian Paints’ overall production capacity to an impressive 26 lakh kl once completed.

Amit Syngle, Managing Director and CEO of Asian Paints, confirmed that the company has already acquired land for the project, and the process of securing regulatory approvals is underway. “We continue to see rising demand driven by infrastructure development, housing growth, and the revival of the automotive sector. This facility will help us strengthen supply and meet the future needs of the market,” Syngle said.

Asian Paints currently operates manufacturing plants across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. With the addition of Indore, the company further strengthens its nationwide footprint, ensuring faster supply chain efficiencies and wider market reach.

The company also highlighted its strong dealer network, which currently stands at over 1.65 lakh dealers across India. Every year, Asian Paints adds around 4,000–5,000 new dealers, reflecting its deepening penetration into semi-urban and rural markets.

Industry analysts note that the Indian paint sector is undergoing consolidation, with leading players expanding aggressively while new global entrants are preparing to enter the market. For Asian Paints, this expansion signals its commitment to maintaining dominance while adapting to evolving market trends.

By choosing Indore for its new plant, Asian Paints is strategically tapping into Central India’s growing demand, while also benefitting from better connectivity and logistics advantages in the region.
