Coimbatore Set for Double-Decker Flyover and Metro Rail Project

The double-decker flyover and metro rail project on Sathyamangalam Road will soon touch the city of Coimbatore. It’s a proposed move to give Coimbatore a change in urban mobility and infrastructure plan for integrated roads to alleviate traffic congestion issues for the long term. It promises improved connectivity, minimizes public inconvenience, and does much more than that.

City officials stated that the project will not only ease the traffic woes of this growing city but also minimize extensive land acquisition requirements, thus promising a smoother exercise. The metro rail system would be designed as a flyover with the metro running above it. The road itself would be widened to 24 meters.

This project is quite ambitious as it is based on an inspection series carried out by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) to ensure its viability. The flyover and metro rail would mutually complement each other to improve overall traveling efficiency in the city, thus making it much easier for commuters to get around the city.
