UltraTech Cement reported a 21.3% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,501 crore for the second quarter of the 2026–27 financial year, supported by higher cement sales volumes, improved capacity utilisation and continued expansion of its manufacturing network.
The Aditya Birla Group company recorded consolidated net sales of ₹23,024 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹19,371 crore in the corresponding period last year, marking an 18.9% increase. Profit before interest, depreciation and tax (PBIDT) rose 17.3% to ₹3,832 crore from ₹3,268 crore a year earlier.
Domestic grey cement sales volumes reached 35.94 million tonnes during the quarter, up 13.8% from 31.58 million tonnes in the second quarter of the previous financial year. Capacity utilisation improved to 71%, against 66% a year earlier, despite monsoon-related disruptions and continuing uncertainty in West Asia.
The company attributed its performance to operational execution, a wider market presence, cost optimisation and a greater focus on premium cement products. The results also reflect the contribution of capacity additions and efforts to improve manufacturing efficiency across its operations.
UltraTech Expands Cement Manufacturing Capacity
During the quarter, UltraTech commissioned 3.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of new integrated cement capacity at Petnikota in Andhra Pradesh. It also added 1 MTPA through debottlenecking at existing facilities in Visakhapatnam, Patratu and Nathdwara.
As of September 30, 2026, the company’s domestic grey cement capacity stood at 204.7 MTPA. Including 5.4 MTPA of overseas capacity, its global capacity reached 210.1 MTPA. UltraTech remains on track to expand its total capacity beyond 240 MTPA by March 2028 through its organic capital expenditure programme.
Entry Into Wires and Cables Segment
UltraTech also entered the wires and cables market during the quarter with the launch of Ultravolt. A manufacturing facility has been commissioned at Jhagadia in Gujarat, while the company is developing a pan-India distribution network for the new business.
The planned production capacity is designed to consume 78,000 tonnes of copper and 24,000 tonnes of aluminium. According to the company, this capacity would position Ultravolt as the second-largest player in the housing wires segment by capacity.
Renewable Energy Investments Continue
UltraTech added 117 MW of renewable energy capacity and 10 MW of waste heat recovery system capacity during the quarter. These investments are expected to increase the contribution of renewable and recovered energy to its overall energy mix.
With higher sales, additional production capacity and diversification into building products, UltraTech is continuing to expand its presence across India’s construction and infrastructure markets.
