UltraTech Cement has taken another decisive step in strengthening its manufacturing footprint by commissioning additional cement capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per annum across two of its key production units. The latest expansion underlines the company’s long term strategy of aligning capacity growth with rising infrastructure and housing demand across India.
As part of the expansion, UltraTech has added 0.6 MTPA at its Dhule unit in Maharashtra through a new grinding facility. This addition is expected to enhance supply efficiency in western India, a region that continues to see sustained demand from infrastructure projects, real estate development, and industrial construction activity.
In Rajasthan, the company has commissioned 1.2 MTPA of capacity at its Nathdwara unit through an integrated expansion. Integrated units play a crucial role in optimising operational efficiency by bringing together clinker production and cement grinding at a single location, helping reduce logistics costs and improve overall productivity.
Following the commissioning of these facilities, UltraTech’s total domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity has increased to 188.66 MTPA. When combined with its overseas capacity of 5.4 MTPA, the company’s global cement production capacity now stands at 194.06 MTPA, further consolidating its position as one of the largest cement producers in the world.
Industry analysts note that the expansion comes at a time when cement demand is being supported by government-led infrastructure spending, urban housing projects, and steady growth in rural construction. By expanding capacity in strategic locations, UltraTech is well placed to service multiple regional markets while maintaining cost competitiveness.
The company has consistently focused on improving operational efficiency, sustainability measures, and supply chain resilience as part of its growth roadmap. The newly commissioned capacity is expected to support faster delivery timelines and improved availability for customers across key markets.
With this expansion, UltraTech continues to demonstrate its commitment to capacity-led growth, reinforcing confidence among stakeholders and strengthening its role in supporting India’s infrastructure and construction ambitions.
