The Fern Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a new property, The Fern Residency Thekkady, further strengthening its footprint in South India. Located in Kerala’s Idukki district, the upcoming hotel reinforces the group’s focus on nature-led destinations that blend responsible hospitality with immersive travel experiences.
With this addition, The Fern Hotels & Resorts now has a total of 14 operational and upcoming properties across South India. The Thekkady property is scheduled to open in the second half of 2026 and will feature 50 well-appointed rooms and suites designed to cater to both leisure and business travellers. The hotel aims to offer a balance of contemporary design and comfort while remaining sensitive to the ecological character of the destination.
The Fern Residency Thekkady will include an all-day dining restaurant, a conference room, and two banquet halls, making it suitable for corporate meetings, destination events, and social gatherings. Its strategic location near popular nature reserves and cultural attractions is expected to attract travellers looking for sustainable tourism experiences and tranquil getaways.
Speaking on the signing, the management highlighted the growing importance of leisure destinations with strong ecological appeal in shaping the next phase of India’s hospitality growth. The Fern Hotels & Resorts has consistently positioned itself as a brand that prioritises environmentally responsible operations while delivering meaningful guest experiences.
Kerala continues to remain a key market for hospitality development, driven by steady domestic tourism demand and increasing interest in experiential travel. The addition of the Thekkady property aligns with the group’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in high-potential destinations across the country.
As travel preferences evolve, The Fern Hotels & Resorts is focusing on expanding its portfolio in locations that offer long-term growth opportunities while supporting sustainable tourism practices. The upcoming Thekkady hotel is expected to contribute positively to the local economy by creating employment opportunities and supporting allied tourism activities, further reinforcing the group’s commitment to responsible growth.
