Telangana Commits Rs 1,038 Crore to Transform Palamuru Region

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has outlined an ambitious development blueprint worth Rs 1,038 crore for the Palamuru region, a historically under-served zone now positioned for accelerated growth. Announced at the Praja Paalana Sabha in Makthal, the plan focuses on strengthening irrigation systems, upgrading educational facilities, and creating long term infrastructure capabilities that can support the region’s future. The announcement signals a renewed commitment from the state government to bring balanced development across Telangana.

At the core of the proposal is the Makthal Narayanpet Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme, designed to provide reliable water access to 1.15 lakh acres of farmland. This scheme is expected to ease long standing water scarcity issues and create stability for farmers who depend heavily on seasonal rainfall. By ensuring dependable irrigation, the government aims to unlock higher agricultural productivity, strengthen the rural economy, and improve livelihoods across several mandals within the Palamuru region.

Education forms another crucial pillar of the development plan. The state announced the establishment of Young India Integrated Schools, aimed at offering modern learning environments for students in rural areas. These institutions will focus on academic excellence, digital literacy, and holistic student development. In parallel, significant upgrades are planned for Palamuru University, strengthening research capabilities, campus infrastructure, and student support systems to help the region nurture highly skilled graduates in the coming years.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasised that the comprehensive initiative is designed to deliver measurable progress over the next decade. He noted that the plan reflects the state’s goal of ensuring equitable development and transforming Palamuru into a model region. With renewed investments in key sectors and a structured execution roadmap, the government aims to create sustainable economic opportunities, improve quality of life, and accelerate long term growth across communities that have historically waited for focused attention.

Local communities have welcomed the announcement, viewing it as an intervention that can transform the socio economic landscape of Palamuru. Officials indicated that detailed project timelines will be released soon, enabling coordination between departments. As implementation begins, the region is expected to witness improvements in agriculture, education, infrastructure, and employment outcomes over the coming decade.
