Telangana Approves Additional ₹90 Crore for Mamnoor Airport Land Acquisition in Warangal

The Telangana government has sanctioned an additional ₹90 crore for the ongoing land acquisition of the Mamnoor Airport project in Warangal. This fresh allocation brings the total funding for the project to ₹295 crore, including the ₹205 crore previously approved in November 2024. The latest approval will enable authorities to speed up compensation and award final settlements to landowners affected by the project.

The sanctioned amount will be utilised by the District Collector and revenue officials to acquire approximately 280 acres and 30 guntas of land required for the expansion and development of the Mamnoor Airport. The Transport, Roads and Buildings (Airports) Department issued the official order after a formal request was made by the district administration.

The move is part of the Telangana government’s larger vision to enhance regional air connectivity and promote economic growth through improved transport infrastructure. By reviving and expanding the Mamnoor Airport in Warangal, the state aims to improve accessibility for businesses, tourists, and investors in north Telangana.

In addition to the Mamnoor project, the government has also sanctioned ₹40.53 lakh for a pre-feasibility study of a proposed greenfield airport at Anthergoan in Peddapalli district. This reflects the state’s proactive approach towards expanding its aviation network to underserved regions.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been engaged to prepare techno-economic feasibility reports (TEFRs) for six proposed regional airports across Telangana. The consultancy fees for these studies will remain valid until December 31, 2025. These comprehensive studies will help identify potential locations, assess commercial viability, and outline infrastructure requirements for future airport developments.

Telangana’s investment in regional aviation is expected to boost trade, tourism, and real estate growth in surrounding districts. With multiple airport projects in progress, including the Mamnoor and Peddapalli developments, the state continues to strengthen its position as an emerging hub for aviation infrastructure in southern India.
