Tamil Nadu Invites Bids for Key Road Infrastructure Projects in Mannargudi and Thiruvarur

The Tamil Nadu Public Works Department (PWD) and Highways Department have announced tenders for significant road infrastructure projects aimed at boosting connectivity and regional development.

Mannargudi Ring Road Project
The PWD has invited bids for Phase-1 of the Mannargudi Ring Road, designed to improve connectivity between SH-63 and MD 840. This project is divided into two parts:

  • Phase-1 Part A: This involves the construction of a 5.61 km stretch connecting Thanjavur-Mannargudi-Thiruthuraipoondi-Vedaranyam-Kodiakkarai Road (SH-63) with Mannargudi-Thirumakkottai-Chockanavoor Road (MD 840) at a cost of ₹62.42 crore.
  • Phase-1 Part B: This includes forming a 6.29 km road linking MD 840 with SH-63, costing ₹50.68 crore.

The entire 11.9 km ring road is expected to enhance regional transportation and support economic growth. Both phases are slated for completion within 15 months, with the bid submission deadline set for December 24, 2024.

Kumbakonam-Mannargudi-Adhirampattinam Road Project
The Highways Department, under the leadership of Superintending Engineer Thiru. P. Senthil, has also invited tenders for the widening and strengthening of the Kumbakonam-Mannargudi-Adhirampattinam Road in Thiruvarur district.

The project covers a 9.8 km stretch (km 38/0-47/8) and involves upgrading the road from two lanes to two lanes with paved shoulders. Additional works include reconstructing a box culvert and constructing a retaining wall. The estimated cost for this initiative is ₹12.55 crore.

Tender documents for this project can be downloaded between November 16, 2024, at 6:50 PM and December 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Submissions are open from November 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM to December 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with the bids scheduled to be opened on December 26, 2024, at 3:15 PM. The Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) is ₹1,255,000, and no tender fee is required.

These projects underline Tamil Nadu’s commitment to improving road connectivity and infrastructure, fostering economic development in Mannargudi and Thiruvarur.
