Sumadhura Group to Invest ₹400 Crore in Grade A Logistics Park in North Chennai
Bengaluru-based real estate developer Sumadhura Group is making its entry into Chennai’s industrial and logistics real estate market with a ₹400-crore Grade A park in Red Hills, North Chennai.
The project will come up across 52 acres along the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road and is planned to offer around 1.2 million sq. ft. of warehousing space. The development is expected to create nearly 2,500 jobs and is targeted for completion by December 2028.
The move comes as Chennai continues to strengthen its position as an important manufacturing and logistics centre in South India. Red Hills, in particular, offers connectivity to several industrial clusters and key transport corridors, making it an increasingly relevant location for large-scale warehousing and distribution facilities.
Focus on manufacturing and logistics demand
Sumadhura said the new park will follow its Grade A warehousing standards, with the company drawing on its experience from the Sumadhura Logistics Park in Hoskote, Bengaluru.
The Chennai facility is expected to cater to manufacturers, automotive companies, e-commerce businesses and third-party logistics providers. Alongside warehouse space, the project is planned with safety and security systems, common business facilities, supporting amenities and sustainability-focused features.
Its location is another key advantage. The park will have access to major highways and the Chennai International Airport, while also being connected to the city’s commercial areas and regional supply-chain networks.
The proximity to Chennai’s major ports could further support logistics operations. Ennore Port, Kattupalli Port and Chennai Port are all within the broader industrial and trade ecosystem surrounding North Chennai, providing businesses with access to maritime freight infrastructure.
Expanding beyond Bengaluru
The Chennai project adds to Sumadhura Group’s existing logistics portfolio in Bengaluru. Its Hoskote facility spans around 2.5 million sq. ft. and has attracted occupiers including Nippon Express, Amazon, Zepto and Zomato.
The company’s Chennai entry reflects the growing demand for larger, professionally managed Grade A warehousing facilities as manufacturers and logistics operators increasingly seek modern infrastructure.
For North Chennai, the ₹400-crore investment could add further momentum to the region’s emergence as a major industrial and logistics destination. With construction planned through 2028, the project will also add substantial warehousing capacity to the city’s evolving supply-chain network.
