Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reinforced the state government’s focus on balanced development by launching major infrastructure works in Mysuru’s Varuna Assembly constituency. Development projects worth Rs 323.04 crore were inaugurated at a public event organised by the Mysuru district administration and zilla panchayat, marking another milestone in the region’s growth journey.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the new projects form part of a broader and sustained development push in Varuna and across Mysuru district. He noted that over the past three years alone, development works worth Rs 1,932 crore have been initiated in the constituency. Of this, projects worth Rs 501 crore were taken up in 2024, while a significant Rs 1,108 crore was launched in 2025, reflecting a steady acceleration in capital expenditure.

Siddaramaiah underlined that development spending has continued despite the state allocating nearly Rs 1,15,000 crore towards five major guarantee schemes. He said welfare initiatives and infrastructure development were being pursued in parallel, with equal priority, to ensure inclusive and long term growth for both urban and rural areas.

One of the key announcements was the laying of the foundation stone for a specialised hospital focused on de addiction treatment. The proposed facility will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore and will be modelled on the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. The hospital is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Mysuru district and address the growing need for specialised mental health and rehabilitation services.

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to improving public health, roads and basic infrastructure in the district. Officials said the newly launched works include upgrades to local roads, drinking water systems and civic facilities aimed at improving quality of life.

With sustained public investment and a focus on healthcare and infrastructure, Varuna constituency is emerging as a key development hub within Mysuru district. The government said similar initiatives would continue in the coming months to support economic activity and social development across the region. Local residents welcomed the projects, expressing optimism that sustained government spending would create jobs, improve services and strengthen economic resilience.
