Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved seven major proposals aimed at accelerating the long-delayed construction of the state capital, Amaravati. The decisions were taken during the 50th Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting held on Saturday.

Municipal Administration Minister Dr. P. Narayana, Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy, CRDA Commissioner Vivek Yadav, and other senior officials participated in the meeting. Addressing the media later, Minister Narayana confirmed that the Amaravati capital works would be completed within three years. He attributed past delays to the late finalisation of the master plan in 2018 and assured that all procedures are now streamlined.

In a key move, the CRDA approved the acquisition of 20,494 acres across four villages in Amaravati mandal and three villages in Tullur mandal. This land will support various upcoming development zones across the capital region.

The Authority also cleared a proposal to invite Request for Proposals (RFPs) for high-density residential and mixed-use projects over 58 acres in key zones like Finance City and Sports City, covering Mandadam, Rayapudi, and Pichukalapalem.

In a bid to boost civic infrastructure, the CRDA will now build convention centres near upcoming five-star hotels in Amaravati. Officials said these hubs will help attract business tourism and contribute to the city’s commercial vibrancy.

To meet construction material needs, CRDA has been granted permission for sand dredging above the Prakasam Barrage, ensuring uninterrupted supply as development picks up pace.

The meeting marks a clear signal from the Naidu government to revive and expedite Amaravati’s stalled capital city plans, which have remained dormant over the last few years.
