Marriott Expands India Footprint with Launch of ‘Series by Marriott’ and 26 New Hotels

Marriott International has strengthened its position in the Indian hospitality market with the official launch of its new mid-scale brand, Series by Marriott. The brand makes its debut with 26 hotels across key cities in India, marking a significant expansion phase for the global hotel group in one of the world’s fastest-growing travel markets.

This launch comes through an integration agreement with Concept Hospitality, enabling its flagship brand, The Fern, to transition under the Marriott banner. For Marriott, this association brings immediate scale at the mid-market level, a segment witnessing strong traction driven by rising domestic travel, business mobility, and growing preference for organised hospitality offerings.

The 26 newly affiliated hotels add more than 1,900 rooms across 23 Indian cities, significantly enhancing Marriott’s presence in emerging business hubs, leisure locations, and tier-two markets. The rollout also places Marriott in a stronger position to cater to value-driven travellers seeking reliable, well-managed accommodation backed by a globally recognised brand.

According to the company, India serves as an ideal market for the debut of Series by Marriott due to its steady economic growth, increased travel frequency among young professionals, and expanding regional aviation connectivity. By aligning global hospitality standards with regional narratives and local sensibilities, Marriott aims to provide a blend of familiarity and cultural richness under one unified brand experience.

Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia for Marriott International, noted that the new brand reflects the company’s commitment to serving India’s evolving travel landscape. He highlighted that dependable, affordable stays continue to gain momentum, making this the right time for a large-scale mid-segment expansion.

With more than 100 additional Series by Marriott properties planned for rollout over the next year, the company is positioning itself for sustained growth in India’s thriving hospitality ecosystem. The rapid expansion strategy signals Marriott’s confidence in the long-term potential of India’s domestic tourism sector and its readiness to serve a broader consumer base seeking quality stays across categories.
