LIXIL to Set Up 500,000-Sq-Ft Window Manufacturing Facility in Hyderabad by 2028

LIXIL Corporation, the Japanese manufacturer of housing and water products, is expanding its manufacturing presence in India with a new window production facility planned in Hyderabad. Spread across 500,000 square feet, the plant is expected to begin operations in 2028 and will strengthen domestic production of aluminium window systems under its TOSTEM brand.

The expansion comes as demand for quality building materials grows alongside residential construction, commercial development and urbanisation across India. By adding a second manufacturing location to its existing facility in Manesar, Haryana, LIXIL aims to improve supply-chain responsiveness and serve customers in both northern and southern markets.

TOSTEM’s Local Production Share to Exceed 60%

One of the key outcomes expected from the Hyderabad investment is an increase in TOSTEM’s local production ratio in India from 30% to more than 60%. The company said the additional capacity would help it respond more effectively to domestic demand while supporting its localisation strategy.

The Hyderabad facility will complement LIXIL Housing Technology’s existing window manufacturing plant in Manesar, Haryana. Together, the two locations are expected to strengthen the availability of pre-engineered aluminium window systems and sliding door profiles in the Indian market.

The expansion also aligns with the government’s Make in India initiative, which encourages domestic manufacturing and local value addition.

Focus on Pre-Engineered Windows and Doors

The company plans to serve the market through TOSTEM’s “Windows in the Box” solution. The system delivers precision-engineered window kits directly to construction sites, reducing the need for builders to coordinate with multiple local fabricators.

According to LIXIL, around 80% of quality-critical processes are handled in-house. This approach is intended to improve manufacturing consistency and product quality across projects, from large developments to individual homes.

Alongside manufacturing expansion, LIXIL plans to strengthen its retail presence through approximately 160 partner companies and more than 150 showrooms across 130 cities.

Hyderabad Strengthens India’s Role in Regional Growth

LIXIL said the investment reflects India’s growing importance within its global housing technology business. The company expects the expanded manufacturing network to improve customer service and support demand across India and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

For builders and developers, greater domestic production could improve access to pre-engineered aluminium windows and sliding door systems. However, the facility is scheduled to commence operations only in 2028, meaning its additional production capacity will become available over the coming years.

The Hyderabad project marks another development in India’s building materials manufacturing sector, where product quality, supply reliability and local production are becoming increasingly important to construction companies and homeowners.
