Infosys to Set Up 20-Acre Campus in Visakhapatnam, Strengthening City’s IT Growth Story

Infosys has announced plans to establish a permanent 20-acre campus in Visakhapatnam, marking a significant step in its long-term expansion strategy and reinforcing the city’s position as a fast-growing technology hub in India.

The Andhra Pradesh government has already allotted land for the proposed facility, which is expected to accommodate up to 7,000 employees. This development represents a major scale-up for the Bengaluru-based IT services company, which has been steadily increasing its presence in Visakhapatnam over the past few years.

Infosys workforce in the city has seen rapid growth, rising from just 250 employees in early 2024 to nearly 1,900 currently. The company is also planning to add around 750 more seats in the near term, reflecting its confidence in the region’s talent pool and infrastructure capabilities.

The company has actively tapped into local talent, hiring over 1,000 fresh graduates and 500 experienced professionals from the region. This approach not only supports Infosys expansion but also contributes to employment generation and skill development within Andhra Pradesh.

The move comes at a time when Visakhapatnam is witnessing a surge in IT investments from multiple global and domestic players. Several leading technology firms are expanding their footprint in the city, attracted by its improving infrastructure, strategic location, and availability of skilled manpower.

Government officials have highlighted that the growth of Visakhapatnam as an IT hub is closely linked to the strength of its local talent ecosystem and proactive policy support. The upcoming Infosys campus is expected to further accelerate this momentum, encouraging more investments and boosting the city’s reputation as a preferred destination for technology companies.
