Hyderabad’s real estate and infrastructure landscape witnessed a major development after the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) reclaimed nearly eight acres of prime government land in Khanamet, located in the city’s fast-growing IT corridor.

The land, estimated to be worth around ₹1,200 crore, is situated in Survey No. 55 of Khanamet village in Serilingampally mandal, Rangareddy district. According to HYDRAA officials, around 4.20 acres of the land had been under the control of leading real estate and construction companies, while another four acres was reportedly under private possession.

Officials stated that the land has been classified as unassigned government property and has already been placed on the prohibited list by the Rangareddy Collector. This classification legally establishes the parcel as government-owned land, preventing any private transactions or development activity.

Following complaints regarding encroachment and unauthorized use, HYDRAA conducted an on-site inspection in coordination with concerned department officials. The inquiry confirmed that the land belongs to the government.

As part of the enforcement action, HYDRAA cleared temporary sheds and other structures erected on the site. In a significant development, Vasavi Construction Company voluntarily dismantled its roller-compacted concrete plant and associated temporary installations.

The agency has now fenced the reclaimed land and installed official signboards declaring it as government property. This move is expected to strengthen asset protection measures in Hyderabad’s high-value IT and commercial growth corridor.

Khanamet and surrounding areas such as Madhapur, Gachibowli, and the Financial District continue to remain among the most sought-after real estate destinations in Hyderabad. The recovery of land in such a strategic location highlights the government’s renewed focus on preventing encroachments and safeguarding public assets amid rapid urban expansion.

The action is likely to have a significant impact on future land transactions and development activities in the region, especially in high-value commercial corridors.
