Hilton Expands Chennai Presence with New 195-Room Luxury Hotel in Egmore by 2029

Global hospitality leader Hilton has announced the signing of a new property — Hilton Chennai Egmore, a 195-room upscale hotel set to open in January 2029. The upcoming development, in collaboration with MKR Estate Developers, part of the MGM Healthcare Group, marks Hilton’s continued commitment to strengthening its footprint in India’s fast-growing hospitality market.

Strategically located in Egmore, one of Chennai’s most prominent business and cultural districts, the new hotel will form part of a larger mixed-use development, featuring a modern commercial office complex alongside premium hospitality offerings. This project represents Hilton’s second flagship property in Chennai, joining the existing Hilton Chennai near the Guindy area, and will further reinforce the brand’s presence in South India’s thriving tourism and business landscape.

The Hilton Chennai Egmore will offer approximately 17,000 sq. ft. of event space, including two expansive ballrooms, a boardroom, and a meeting room. Designed to host business conferences, weddings, and social gatherings, the property aims to become one of Chennai’s premier venues for corporate and leisure events. The hotel will also feature world-class amenities such as fine-dining restaurants, a rooftop pool, a fitness center, and wellness facilities, reflecting Hilton’s global standards of luxury and comfort.

According to Hilton, this development is part of the company’s broader strategy to double its presence in India within five years. The hospitality major continues to see India as one of its most promising growth markets, driven by increasing urban development, rising business travel, and a booming domestic tourism sector.

In addition to the Egmore property, Hilton is also preparing to launch its first LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Bengaluru by 2026, marking another milestone in its India expansion journey.
