India’s housing market, which saw a measured first half in 2025, is expected to regain momentum in the September–December festive season, according to Housing.com’s latest outlook. The platform highlights that the final four months of the year have consistently been the strongest period for housing demand, contributing nearly a third of annual sales.

“The festive calendar beginning with Ganesh Utsav, followed by Navratri and Diwali, has always been the strongest demand driver of India’s housing market,” said Praveen Sharma, CEO of REA India, Housing.com. “This season is particularly promising with steady demand in mid and premium segments, improving consumer confidence, and lifestyle-driven housing trends. We believe Q4 2025 will not only mark a seasonal revival but could reset growth momentum for 2026.”

Data support this optimism. Over the past five years (2020–24), Q4 has contributed 25–35% of annual housing sales. Even during weak cycles, such as 2020 after the Covid shock, Q4 delivered a 32% uplift over the previous quarter. On average, festive demand adds 10–15% more transactions compared to Q3.

In the first half of 2025, the sector cooled down after two years of remarkable growth, with sales tapering off as buyers and developers adjusted to price corrections and supply recalibrations. Yet a historic trend may lift Q4 to neutralize the dampened demand. According to the patterns observed in the past, Housing.com expects at least 30% of annual sales will be captured in Q4 2025, thus being carved as the deciding quarter for the industry.

Under this seasonal sentiment, developers may now prepare to encash their marquee launches for key projects, helpful payment schemes, and festive discounts. This ties in with buyer sentiment since buyers do make large purchases ahead of the festival. Activity in the mid-market and premium housing categories is also expected to flourish, which shows a growing consumer appetite for lifestyle homes in India.

With the convergence of several positive factors-developer push, consumer confidence, and sentiments for the season the industry is anticipating an extremely strong end to the year 2025. The festivities quarter may not only perform the best for the year but may also set the course for sustained growth into the year 2026.
