This is going to be another step up for Tamil Nadu’s IT infrastructure as Chief Minister MK Stalin is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for TIDEL Parks in Madurai and Trichy on 13 February through video conferencing from Chennai that marks the opening of a new milestone in tech-driven growth.

TIDEL Park Limited is a joint venture between Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, or TIDCO, and Tamil Nadu Electronics Corporation. It has pioneered the above project to extend IT employment avenues away from the units at Chennai and Coimbatore by initiating development here in these new parks.

The long-awaited projects have finally gained momentum after nearly two years of anticipation. Earlier, mini TIDEL Parks were launched in districts like Vellore and Tirunelveli, but Madurai and Trichy had been awaiting construction. Recently, the Tamil Nadu government secured environmental clearance, paving the way for work to commence.

Project Details & Expected Impact

The Madurai TIDEL Park will be developed on 9.97 acres near Mattuthavani, with an estimated cost of ₹500 crore. It will consist of a ground floor and six additional floors, constructed in two phases. Once completed, it is expected to generate around 6,000 job opportunities for young professionals in the region.

Similarly, the Trichy TIDEL Park will be built at a cost of ₹315 crore employing approximately 5,000 youth.

The tendering process has been completed, and with environmental approvals in place, construction is set to commence immediately after the foundation stone ceremony. The entire project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

With these developments, Tamil Nadu strengthens its commitment to decentralized IT growth, fostering employment and technological advancement in tier-2 cities.
