Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited has taken a major step towards strengthening Chennai’s hospitality landscape by committing an investment of Rs 1,100 crore in the city. The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government during the Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit held on February 2, 2026, marking one of the most significant private investments announced for the state’s tourism sector this year.

The proposed investment will be directed towards the development of three new hotel projects in Chennai, collectively adding more than 500 rooms to the city’s premium hospitality inventory. These projects include a Courtyard by Marriott at the Chennai World Trade Center, a Grand Hyatt property along the East Coast Road, and a JW Marriott hotel on the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Together, the developments are expected to enhance Chennai’s appeal as a destination for business travellers, international tourists, and large-scale conferences.

According to the company, the Courtyard by Marriott at the Chennai World Trade Center will feature 45 rooms, catering primarily to business travellers and exhibition visitors. The Grand Hyatt Chennai on ECR will add 211 rooms, positioned to attract leisure tourists and high-end travellers seeking coastal hospitality experiences. Meanwhile, the JW Marriott Chennai on OMR will be the largest among the three, offering 250 rooms and suites, with a focus on luxury stays, meetings, and events.

Beyond expanding hotel capacity, the investment is expected to generate significant employment opportunities in the state. Brigade Hotel Ventures has indicated that more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created through these projects, spanning construction, hotel operations, and allied services.

The company has already acquired land parcels for all three developments, underlining its commitment to timely execution. Chennai remains a key market for Brigade Hotel Ventures as part of its broader South India growth strategy, supported by the city’s strong IT corridor, expanding convention infrastructure, and rising tourist footfalls.

The MoU reflects the Tamil Nadu government’s push to attract large-scale private investments into tourism and hospitality, positioning Chennai as a leading urban destination with world-class accommodation and services.
