The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allotment of 91.38 acres of land in Kanamam village, Anandapuram mandal, Visakhapatnam district, for the development of a ₹1,008 crore logistics and light industrial park that will support Google’s proposed India AI Hub.
The land has been allotted to Ecobox Industrial Asset IV Private Limited at a price of ₹55 lakh per acre. The project is expected to create around 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities while strengthening Visakhapatnam’s position as an emerging technology and digital infrastructure destination.
According to the government, Google has identified Ecobox, through Logicap Holdings, as its preferred development partner for creating the logistics infrastructure required for its proposed AI Hub in India. The logistics park will be developed in phases to meet the warehousing, storage, servicing and operational requirements of the planned data centre ecosystem.
The industrial park will feature a total built-up area of around 19.45 lakh sq. ft. across 44.65 acres. The master plan includes three large warehouse blocks, a dedicated light manufacturing facility, a data centre and allied activities block, and an administrative building. The warehouse component alone will account for nearly 14.68 lakh sq. ft., while additional space has been earmarked for light manufacturing and technology support infrastructure.
The Andhra Pradesh government has also approved the use of five to seven acres within the project for networking and connectivity infrastructure, which will play a critical role in supporting future data centre operations.
To improve connectivity, the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has been directed to develop a 24-metre-wide access road to the site. Ecobox will also have the option to participate in developing a proposed three-kilometre peripheral road through APIIC by bearing its proportionate share of the project cost.
The proposal has already received clearance from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) following recommendations from the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC), paving the way for implementation.
The logistics park forms an important part of the ecosystem planned around Google’s proposed $15 billion India AI Hub in Visakhapatnam. Industry observers believe the project could significantly strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s ambitions to become a leading destination for artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, data centres and advanced digital investments while attracting technology companies and supporting the state’s long-term industrial growth.
