Adani Cement pioneers world’s first RotoDynamic Heater at Andhra Pradesh plant, marking a breakthrough in carbon-free cement production

Adani Cement has achieved a major global milestone by introducing the world’s first commercial RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) at its Boyareddypalli Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh. This pioneering step, undertaken in partnership with Finland-based CleanTech leader Coolbrook, signals a defining shift toward sustainable and carbon-free cement production in India.

The RotoDynamic Heater represents a revolutionary advancement in industrial heat generation. Traditionally, the calcination stage in cement production relies heavily on fossil fuels, contributing significantly to carbon emissions. With RDH technology, Adani Cement replaces fossil-based combustion with clean electric heat, enabling complete decarbonisation of this critical process stage. The system is expected to reduce up to 60,000 tonnes of carbon emissions every year, with the potential to increase this reduction tenfold as adoption expands.

Entirely powered by Adani Cement’s renewable energy portfolio, the RDH ensures zero direct emissions while enhancing process efficiency and energy utilisation. This initiative also aligns with the company’s Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and supports Coolbrook’s global ambition to reduce 2.4 billion tonnes of CO₂ from heavy industries.

The technology offers multiple operational benefits including higher alternative fuel substitution rates of up to 30 percent, improved clinker quality, and increased green power share to 60 percent by FY28. These advancements reinforce Adani Cement’s leadership in sustainable cement manufacturing and position India as a frontrunner in climate-resilient industrial transformation.

This milestone not only strengthens Adani Group’s commitment to environmental responsibility but also sets a global example for integrating renewable energy with large-scale industrial operations. The Boyareddypalli project represents a significant leap toward cleaner, more sustainable construction materials and supports India’s larger mission of transitioning toward a low-carbon economy.
