Adani Cement has hit a milestone of 100 million tonnes (MT) of production capacity, and it has been achieved at what Gautam Adani described as a “world-record pace.”

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Adani Group Chairperson Gautam Adani stated, “100 million tonnes capacity set at world-record speed! Adani Cement is now among the most efficient cement producers in the world. It is a testament to our absolute faith in India’s growth story.”

The milestone comes as Adani continues its aggressive growth in the cement industry since its 2022 acquisition of Ambuja Cements and ACC Ltd. The group has since integrated operations and aggressively expanded production across its facilities.

Ambuja Cements, along with its subsidiaries, has an operating capacity of 89 MTPA as of now, spread across 22 integrated manufacturing units and 21 grinding units. It also operates more than 86 ready-mix concrete plants and a country-wide network of over 100,000 channel partners.

The organization has incorporated sustainability into its strategy strongly. More than 85% of its manufacture is blended cement. It is also 11 times water-positive and 8 times plastic-negative. Ambuja plans to energy 60% of its capacity from renewable energy sources.

In a first-ever, Ambuja Cements has recently become a member of the Alliance for Industrial Decarbonization (AFID), a climate-driven initiative by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), pledging faster net-zero transitions. It has also received a CDP ‘Leadership Score’ of A- for climate action.

Adani Group’s cement ambitions are one of its greater thrusts in infrastructure, energy, and logistics on a model of vertical integration and operational efficiency.

With the 100 MT mark, Adani Cement has now become one of India’s top cement makers competing with giants in the industry such as UltraTech Cement.
