Bengaluru: Bengaluru’s suburban rail network has moved another step towards expansion, with a joint venture between Gayatri Projects Limited and RNS Infrastructure Limited securing a ₹342 crore contract for civil infrastructure works on Corridor-4 of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project.
The contract has been awarded by Bengaluru Integrated Rail Infrastructure Development Enterprise Limited (B-RIDE). Also known as the Kanaka Line, Corridor-4 will connect Benniganahalli with Jakkur, strengthening rail connectivity across the city’s expanding metropolitan region.
The scope of work covers the construction of 6.259 kilometres of at-grade railway formation and 3.681 kilometres of elevated viaduct. Together, these components account for nearly 10 kilometres of railway infrastructure along the corridor.
Beyond the main railway formation, the project involves several supporting civil engineering works. These include embankments, earth cuttings, blanketing, bridges, retaining walls, drainage systems, boundary walls and fencing. The infrastructure package is intended to establish the physical foundation required for the corridor’s development.
The Letter of Acceptance for the contract was issued on October 29, 2026. The joint venture has been given 24 months to complete the assigned works. The contract value of ₹342 crore is exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The award comes as Bengaluru continues to pursue the development of its suburban rail network to address growing mobility requirements. With the city’s population, employment centres and residential developments expanding across multiple directions, improving public transport connectivity has become an important part of its long-term infrastructure planning.
The suburban rail project is expected to provide an additional transport option for commuters travelling between Bengaluru’s peripheral areas and major urban destinations. Corridor-4’s connection between Benniganahalli and Jakkur is part of this wider effort to strengthen regional connectivity.
For Gayatri Projects and RNS Infrastructure, the contract adds a significant railway infrastructure assignment to their project portfolios. Its execution will involve coordinated civil works across ground-level and elevated sections, alongside the supporting structures needed for railway operations.
The 24-month completion timeline will be an important milestone to watch as construction progresses. The successful delivery of the package will contribute to the next phase of Bengaluru’s suburban rail development and its broader urban transportation infrastructure.
