Shree Cement Expands UAE Capacity to 7 Million Tonnes With New AED 115 Million Facility

Shree Cement has expanded its manufacturing footprint in the United Arab Emirates with the commissioning of a new cement grinding facility in Ras Al Khaimah. The project, developed at Union Cement Company (UCC), a subsidiary of Shree Cement, involved an investment of AED 115 million and adds 3 million tonnes per annum of grinding capacity.

The new facility takes Shree Cement’s total cement manufacturing capacity in the UAE from 4 million tonnes to 7 million tonnes per annum. The company’s overall capacity now stands at 76.3 million tonnes per annum, according to chairman H M Bangur.

New grinding technology targets efficiency

The facility is equipped with a Gebr. Pfeiffer MVR 6000 Vertical Roller Mill, which integrates grinding and separation systems. It also features modern material-handling infrastructure and dust-collection systems designed to improve operational reliability and support more energy-efficient cement production.

The commissioning strengthens UCC’s existing manufacturing operations in Ras Al Khaimah. The company already operates a waste heat recovery system with a green power generation capacity of 31.50 MW, helping reduce dependence on conventional energy sources within its operations.

The new capacity comes as cement manufacturers continue to focus on improving production efficiency while managing energy consumption and environmental performance.

Renewable energy remains a focus

Shree Cement is also expanding its use of cleaner energy across its operations. The company has an installed green power capacity of 634.5 MW, while renewable energy accounted for 66% of its total energy mix in the first quarter of Financial Year 2026–27.

It has also begun small-scale deployment of battery energy storage systems at selected locations to assess their potential for wider use. These systems could support the integration and management of energy from renewable sources, although the company has not specified a broader rollout timeline.

Across its manufacturing facilities, Shree Cement follows a Zero Liquid Discharge approach, treating and reusing wastewater within its operations. The company also uses dry-process cement manufacturing, which supports water conservation.

Capacity expansion strengthens regional presence

The Ras Al Khaimah project adds to Shree Cement’s production base in the Gulf market while increasing its overall manufacturing capacity. The combination of additional grinding capacity, modern equipment and existing energy-efficiency initiatives will be central to the facility’s operational performance.

With UAE capacity now at 7 million tonnes per annum, the company has strengthened its ability to serve regional cement demand while continuing to focus on energy efficiency and resource management.
