SEPC has secured an ₹854.57 crore contract from Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for infrastructure work at the IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur, West Bengal. The contract covers the balance-of-plant (BOP) package for the plant’s pellet facility, including civil and structural works, as SAIL advances its crude steel production expansion programme.

The agreement strengthens SEPC’s presence in industrial infrastructure and steel-related projects. The company will undertake the remaining plant infrastructure work associated with the pellet plant package, which forms part of the broader expansion programme at SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant.

The expansion is linked to a planned crude steel production capacity of 4.08 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Pellet plants play an important role in steelmaking by preparing iron ore for use in the production process, while the associated civil and structural works provide the infrastructure required to support plant operations.

The contract follows a Letter of Acceptance issued by SAIL to SEPC in August 2026. The latest agreement formalises the project award and adds another large industrial infrastructure assignment to SEPC’s portfolio.

The development comes as steel producers continue to invest in plant capacity and supporting facilities to strengthen their manufacturing operations. Projects of this scale involve multiple infrastructure components, including civil construction, structural installation and facilities required to support production systems.

For SEPC, the SAIL contract also comes alongside a milestone in its overall project pipeline. The company announced that its consolidated order book has crossed ₹10,000 crore, reflecting the value of projects in its portfolio across industrial engineering and infrastructure.

The order book figure provides an indication of the scale of work available to the company, although project execution schedules, delivery requirements and associated costs will influence how individual contracts translate into revenue.

The IISCO Steel Plant project adds to the range of industrial assignments being undertaken by SEPC and reinforces its involvement in infrastructure supporting India’s steel manufacturing sector. Further execution progress on the ₹854.57 crore package will be an important development to watch as the expansion programme moves forward.

With the new contract and its order book exceeding ₹10,000 crore, SEPC’s project execution and delivery performance will remain key factors in tracking its industrial infrastructure business.
