Tamil Nadu Announces Semiconductor Park, Coimbatore FinTech Hub and Multimodal Logistics Hub

Tamil Nadu is moving to strengthen its industrial and logistics ecosystem with three new projects announced by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in the Legislative Assembly.

The announcements cover a semiconductor and electronics manufacturing park in Kancheepuram, a FinTech hub in Coimbatore and a proposed multimodal logistics hub in the Tiruchirappalli region. Together, the projects are aimed at attracting fresh investment, creating jobs and improving the State’s infrastructure for emerging industries.

₹175 crore semiconductor park planned in Kancheepuram

The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) will establish a Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Park at Madhuramangalam in Kancheepuram district with an investment of ₹175 crore.

The proposed park will include a research and development facility designed to support new manufacturing units entering the semiconductor sector. The government expects the development to attract around ₹2,000 crore in private investment and generate approximately 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The project comes as Tamil Nadu seeks to strengthen its position in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, sectors that require specialised industrial infrastructure, technology capabilities and skilled manpower.

Coimbatore to get ₹400 crore FinTech hub

In Coimbatore, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) will establish a FinTech hub at an estimated cost of ₹400 crore through public and private participation.

The proposed facility will focus on digital financial services and FinTech innovation. It is expected to include modern laboratories, training and skill-development infrastructure and other facilities aimed at supporting technology-driven financial businesses.

The government sees the hub as a platform to attract global investment while creating high-value employment opportunities in Coimbatore, one of Tamil Nadu’s major industrial and technology centres.

Multimodal logistics hub planned near Tiruchirappalli

The third announcement focuses on logistics infrastructure. TIDCO will study the feasibility and prepare a detailed project report for a multimodal logistics hub in the Tiruchirappalli region.

The proposed facility is expected to support the movement of goods by integrating different modes of transportation. The initiative follows Tamil Nadu’s broader plans to develop more multimodal logistics parks and dry ports at strategically important locations.

The State’s 2026-27 Budget had already outlined efforts to expand multimodal logistics infrastructure and promote petrochemical and ancillary industries.

The three projects together indicate a wider push to diversify Tamil Nadu’s industrial base while strengthening connectivity, technology infrastructure and investment capacity across different regions.
