HealthEdge, a US headquartered healthcare technology company backed by Bain Capital, has taken around 1.62 lakh sq ft of office space at Brigade Group’s Brigade Square in Thiruvananthapuram.
The lease covers 11 floors of the IT office building, located in Technopark Phase 1. Brigade Square has a total super built-up area of around 2 lakh sq ft and is the Brigade Group’s first IT office development in the city.
The transaction adds a major technology occupier to Thiruvananthapuram’s commercial real estate market at a time when the city is attracting companies operating in technology, healthcare and other knowledge-based sectors.
HealthEdge will use the new campus for teams working across engineering, product development, technology, operations and corporate functions. The company develops software and technology-enabled services for health plans, with its platform covering claims administration, payment accuracy, provider network management, care management and risk adjustment.
The new workplace includes meeting and training rooms, collaborative work areas, wellness rooms, a cafeteria and a mothers’ room. An executive floor has also been planned with a boardroom, meeting rooms and executive dining facilities.
Nirupa Shankar, Joint Managing Director of Brigade Enterprises, said the company developed Brigade Square with the changing workplace requirements of global technology businesses in mind. She said HealthEdge’s decision to establish its campus at the property underlines the growing opportunities for technology companies in Thiruvananthapuram.
For HealthEdge, the expansion also strengthens its presence in India. CEO Kevin Adams said the company’s Indian teams are involved in areas including artificial intelligence, engineering, product development and operations, with the new campus supporting its longer-term growth plans.
The Brigade Group is preparing for a larger expansion in Thiruvananthapuram. It has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kerala government to develop a 2 million sq ft World Trade Center at Technopark Phase 1.
Brigade Square will be part of this larger development. The proposed World Trade Center is expected to add more commercial office space to the technology hub and could help the city attract additional multinational companies and other knowledge-driven businesses.
The HealthEdge lease therefore comes as Brigade builds out a broader commercial presence in Thiruvananthapuram, while the city continues to strengthen its position as one of Kerala’s key technology centres.
