MEPZ Special Economic Zone has cleared 11 investment proposals involving a combined investment of ₹443.11 crore, strengthening the industrial and export-oriented ecosystem across Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Puducherry.
The approvals were given by the Unit Approval Committee (UAC) during its August meeting chaired by Zonal Development Commissioner Alex Paul Menon, IAS. The proposals include nine new Special Economic Zone units and two Export Oriented Units, with the projects together expected to generate 2,427 employment opportunities.
Manufacturing accounts for a significant share of the investment, with major projects planned in Coimbatore and the Sriperumbudur industrial belt.
Among the largest proposals, ZF Industrial Technology Coimbatore Private Limited has received approval to establish a manufacturing facility at Aspen Park Infra in Coimbatore. The company plans to invest ₹336.13 crore in the facility, which is expected to create 250 direct jobs. The project will add further capacity to Coimbatore’s growing advanced manufacturing base.

Another major investment has been proposed by Sanmina-SCI India Private Limited. The company will establish a manufacturing unit at the SIPCOT Hi-Tech SEZ in Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, with an investment of ₹72.72 crore. The facility is expected to generate 1,350 jobs, making it the largest employment-generating project among the major proposals announced as part of the approvals.
The latest investment decisions also cover the technology and services sector. Visionet Systems Pvt Ltd will expand its existing operations at the ELCOT SEZ in Vilankurichi, Coimbatore. The company will make an additional investment of ₹11.31 crore, supporting 294 new employment opportunities.
The spread of projects across manufacturing, information technology and logistics highlights the increasingly diversified nature of the region’s export-oriented industrial base. For Tamil Nadu, the approvals also reinforce the importance of established industrial clusters such as Coimbatore and Oragadam in attracting fresh investments.
Beyond the direct investment and employment numbers, the projects are expected to support activity among suppliers, logistics operators, service providers and other businesses connected to the industrial ecosystem.
The latest approvals therefore add another layer to Tamil Nadu’s broader push to strengthen manufacturing capacity and attract export-focused businesses, while positioning MEPZ and its surrounding industrial clusters as important destinations for new investment.
