Karnataka has taken another significant step in strengthening its position as one of India’s leading industrial investment destinations, with JSW Group announcing plans to invest an additional ₹1.2 lakh crore in the state over the next five years. The announcement came during the Karnataka government’s investment roadshow in Mumbai, where the state engaged with several leading companies across manufacturing, engineering, consumer goods, electronics and technology sectors.

The investment outreach was led by Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil, who met JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal and Joint Managing Director Jayant Acharya to discuss the company’s long-term expansion plans. According to the minister, JSW has already invested nearly ₹1.30 lakh crore in Karnataka over the past three decades and continues to view the state as its preferred destination for future growth.

The proposed investment is expected to further strengthen Karnataka’s industrial ecosystem, particularly in the Ballari and Vijayanagara regions, where JSW has established one of India’s largest integrated steel manufacturing facilities. The group also has a significant presence in the energy, cement and infrastructure sectors across the state.

Apart from JSW, the state government held discussions with several major companies, including Larsen & Toubro, Bisleri International, Raymond Lifestyle, Tarq Semiconductors, Sanofi Consumer Healthcare India, Magnum, Balu Forge, Max Aerospace and TCPL Packaging.

Larsen & Toubro shared plans to expand into industrial robotics and establish a semiconductor chip design centre in Bengaluru for global markets. The company also discussed developing an electronics-focused research and innovation park, with the Karnataka government assuring support for advanced testing infrastructure.

Bisleri International outlined plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Karnataka, with the proposed project expected to generate around 2,000 additional jobs. State officials suggested Vijayapura and Chamarajanagar as potential locations, citing their long-term industrial potential and water availability.

Raymond Lifestyle is also evaluating expansion of its jeans manufacturing operations, while Tarq Semiconductors expressed interest in developing semiconductor, artificial intelligence, data centre and compound semiconductor fabrication projects in Karnataka.

The investment roadshow reflects Karnataka’s continued efforts to compete with other major investment destinations such as Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Backed by its established industrial base, skilled workforce, technology ecosystem and improving infrastructure, the state is positioning itself to attract the next wave of investments across advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, electronics and emerging technologies.
