Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the allotment of 855 acres of land to Reliance Industries for setting up a Giga Scale AI Data Centre, marking one of the largest digital infrastructure investments proposed in the state. The project is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position in the fast growing data centre and artificial intelligence ecosystem.

The land identified for the project is located in Polipally, Bhogapuram East and Bhogapuram West villages in Visakhapatnam district. The location is considered strategic as it is close to the upcoming cable landing station and the international airport, which are expected to support high speed connectivity and large scale digital operations.

Reliance Industries is expected to invest around ₹1.08 lakh crore in the proposed data centre project. The State Investment Promotion Board had earlier cleared the proposal, which is expected to create nearly 1,000 employment opportunities. The state government has also approved a 25 percent concession on land value, along with other eligible investment incentives under existing norms.

The proposed AI data centre is expected to play a key role in improving Andhra Pradesh’s digital infrastructure. With rising demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data storage and digital services, large scale data centres are becoming important assets for states looking to attract technology driven investments.

The Cabinet also ratified land allotments for several other industrial projects cleared earlier by the investment promotion board. These include a Royal Enfield motorcycle manufacturing facility in Tirupati district, an integrated cement plant with waste heat based power generation in Dachepalli in Palnadu district, expansion of Apollo Tyres’ manufacturing facility, a greenfield enzyme manufacturing unit of International Flavors and Fragrances India, additional land for Dallas Technology Center and a solar cell manufacturing facility of Gridon Energy.

In another key decision, the Cabinet approved the establishment of a research and development facility of the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory in the Quantum Valley in Amaravati.

The government also cleared the proposal to set up the Andhra Pradesh SME Exchange to help MSMEs raise equity capital and access alternative financial resources. The move is expected to benefit nearly 20 lakh registered MSMEs in the state.
