L&T Bags Major Share of Telangana’s Ratan Tata Radial Road Project

The Telangana government has awarded a significant portion of the prestigious Ratan Tata Radial Road project to Larsen & Toubro, marking another major milestone in the state’s infrastructure expansion plans. The new radial road, spanning a total length of 41.5 km, will connect Outer Ring Road Exit 13 at Raviryala with Amanagallu, strengthening regional connectivity and supporting long-term urban growth.

According to disclosures made to the stock exchanges, the project has been classified by L&T under its “significant” category, which includes contracts valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore. This classification underlines both the scale and strategic importance of the road project within the company’s order book.

The execution of the road has been divided into phases. The first phase, covering a 19.2 km stretch, will be undertaken by Ritwik Projects. The remaining and larger portion, a 22.3 km six-lane stretch running from Mirkhanpet to the proposed Regional Ring Road, has been awarded to L&T. This section is expected to play a critical role in easing traffic movement and improving access to emerging development zones.

Beyond the main carriageway, the project includes extensive supporting infrastructure. A 3.6 km-long viaduct will be constructed along the alignment, along with several small bridges, underpasses and culverts. Service roads on both sides of the highway will ensure smoother local access, while modern drainage systems and rainwater harvesting facilities are being integrated to enhance sustainability and resilience.

The road design also incorporates dedicated cycle tracks, reflecting a growing emphasis on multi-modal transport and safer urban mobility. Once completed, the Ratan Tata Road is expected to significantly improve connectivity to key hubs such as the IT corridor, Electronic City, Young India Skill University and the proposed Bharat Future City, all of which are central to Telangana’s economic and employment growth strategy.

For L&T, the project reinforces its strong presence in large-scale road and urban infrastructure development. For Telangana, it represents another step toward building future-ready transport networks that support investment, reduce travel times and unlock new growth corridors across the region.
