Later, a plan to erect a gigantic tractor manufacturing unit worth ₹4,500 crore is in the pipeline for Uttar Pradesh by Escorts Kubota Limited after it was allotted a 200-acre site within Sector-10 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). This initiative is part of the MoU drawn up with the state government in August 2024 and is promised to create jobs for about 4,000 people in phases.

This project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase of the development will require an investment of ₹2,000 crore to establish a tractor plant, a plant for commercial equipment, and other allied facilities to be followed. With capacity utilization and market demand, the second phase will follow.

By strengthening Escorts Kubota’s hold on the domestic agricultural machinery requirements, this plant will also play a role in meeting requirements from outside India. Further plans are afoot in the direction of shared services to support Kubota’s global research and development (R&D) operations from India, underlining India’s growing importance to global farm and construction equipment manufacturing.

Founded in 2019 through a partnership of India’s Escorts and Japan’s Kubota, Escorts has become one of the big players in tractors, engines, farm machinery, and construction equipment, emerging fast. The company can now use this facility to help position India as a hub for manufacturing and innovative development in the agricultural and related sectors.

As per YEIDA officials, this project dovetails with the vision of Uttar Pradesh in terms of attracting investments in industrial infrastructure of mega stature along the industrial corridor of Yamuna Expressway, particularly around the upcoming Jewar Airport. It is also believed that this project will enhance local employment, ancillary industries, along regional economic growth.

Among the largest manufacturing investments declared within the state industrial policy in the last years, it is expected to cost ₹4,500 crores. For Escorts Kubota, it marks a significant scale-up capacity and capability enhancement, enabling it to cater to both domestic and international markets while fostering technology collaboration between India and Japan.

As groundwork is expected to begin any time soon, the project adds to the efforts being instituted by Uttar Pradesh to be the hub for industrial and manufacturing growth in India.
