Central and state governments have joined hands to develop the Zaheerabad Industrial Area (ZIA) as part of a Smart Integrated Industrial City spread over 3,245 acres in Telangana, confirming a huge stride toward industrial development in the state. This will be one of the major interventions in creating the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC).

The ZIA project will be developed through a special purpose vehicle-NICDIT Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City-in which 51% of the equity will be held by Telangana’s Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) and the remaining 49% by the Central Government’s National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT).

Strategically placed in Nyalkal and Jharasangam mandals of Sangareddy district, the industrial zone is intended to attract high-value investments through world-class infrastructure like wide roads, dedicated power distribution systems, ICT networks, and shared utility services. Till now, 91% of the land required has been acquired by the government, while the acquisition of the remaining 284.48 acres is underway.

The Zaheerabad Industrial Area is expected to serve as a platform to facilitate the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Act East’ policies of India thereby promoting advanced manufacturing and integrated urban-industrial development. Its location provides excellent connectivity-125 km away from the Hyderabad airport, 110 km from the forthcoming Manoharabad Multi-Modal Logistics Park; and 320 km from Krishnapatnam Port giving it an edge over others in terms of freight movement and exports.

This is the second such nationally recognized industrial initiative in Zaheerabad, further summoning its reputation as a strategic industrial hub in southern India. Once completed, ZIA shall provide vast employment opportunities and spur local development while also cementing Telangana in India’s manufacturing map.
