Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) has opened the AISATS BLR Logistics Park at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru. Built with an investment of Rs 200 crore and covering eight acres, the state-of-the-art facility is among South India’s largest on-airport logistics parks.
The facility is intended to enhance Bengaluru’s status as a premier air cargo hub as well as feed India’s accelerating need for smart, integrated supply chains.
The logistics park has a cluster of three buildings designed to address diverse cargo needs. Central to it is a contemporary two-story main warehouse providing over 2.4 lakh sq ft of Grade A warehousing space for freight forwarders, express courier operators, and third-party logistics providers. The complex also has pay-per-use cold storage, a common-user facility for SMEs, and a public 11,000 sq ft bonded warehouse for importers and OEMs to warehouse cargo under customs bond.
To complement the warehousing infrastructure, there is a 24,000 sq ft office building occupied by Customs House Agents, logistics firms, and cargo support organizations. AISATS has also incorporated trucking services to enable hassle-free and cost-effective cargo transportation between the logistics park and the airport’s cargo terminals, three kilometers apart.
KIA currently serves 13% of India’s overall air cargo volume and enjoys a commanding 40% market share among South Indian airports. With Bengaluru Airport targeting a doubling of its cargo handling to one million metric tonnes by 2030, the AISATS BLR Logistics Park is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the realization of this goal.
AISATS added that the facility also aligns with its strategy for national expansion and supplements the future Multimodal Cargo Hub at Noida International Airport.
