Jindal Stainless to Invest ₹40,000 Crore in Maharashtra for New Manufacturing Facility

Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) is to invest ₹40,000 crore to set up a modern stainless-steel plant in Maharashtra. The plant will be developed in phases and will have a melting capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum (mntpa), as per PTI reports.

The initial phase of the project is slated to enter operation in the next four years. The facility, when fully operational, will cater to critical sectors such as hydrogen, defense, and infrastructure, bolstering India’s domestic manufacture of stainless steel.

This investment marks JSL’s focus on diversifying its manufacturing offerings and meeting the increasing consumption of stainless steel across all end-user industries. The local economy in terms of generating employment opportunities will also see a big boost according to the company with the establishment of the new unit.

The decision fits within a larger push for self-sufficiency in India’s industrial production, especially in defense and infrastructure sectors where stainless steel plays a key role.
