Traffic Curbs in Coimbatore as Avinashi Road Flyover Nears Completion

The last stage of the Avinashi Road flyover project is expected to cause temporary inconvenience to motorists in Coimbatore, as major traffic diversions have been announced by the city police between July 9 and 13 to facilitate vital construction works.

The construction of a flyover between Uppilipalayam and Goldwins is about to be finished at a span of 10.1 km. During its last phase, a steel composite girder is going to be placed over the railway bridge next to Hopes College, wherein the whole vehicular movement from Pioneer Mill Junction to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) will be completely severed during those five days from 11 PM to 6 AM.

Diversions:

• Exit Traffic: (Buses & Heavy Vehicles): Vehicles departing the city shall turn right at Lakshmi Mill Junction and proceed through Ramanathapuram, Singanallur, Ondipudur, the LT Bypass, or alternatively via GP Signal, Ganapathy, Saravanampatti, Vilangurichi to join Avinashi road.
• Exit Cars & Two-wheeler: These vehicles should turn left at Pioneer Mill Junction, then use the route Rottikadai Maidanam, Gandhi Nagar, Thanneerpandal, Tidel Park.

Inbound Buses & Heavy Vehicles: Inbound traffic from the city turns right at Thottipalayam and proceeds through Kalapatti, Vilangurichi, and Saravanampatti. U-turn is allowed at SITRA Junction and Kalapatti Road, Naal Road, and Saravanampatti.

• Inbound Cars & Two-Wheelers: They must turn right at SITRA, CODISSIA, or CMC Junction and use the roads through Tidel Park, Thanneerpandal, Gandhi Nagar, and Rottikadai Maidanam.

Singanallur Traffic: Motorists should not use the Avinashi Road but should take the LT Bypass through Chinthamanipudur and Ondipudur.

Vehicles Coming From Singanallur to City: And after this, should proceed through Perks School, GV Residency, Fun Mall to reach Pioneer Mill Junction, thence to connect through Gandhi Nagar and Thanneerpandal.

The Coimbatore police urged the commuters to plan their travel as well as follow the diversions to avoid congestion and ensure smooth progress of the flyover works.
