The Leela Expands Portfolio with ₹560 Crore Coorg Luxury Resort Acquisition

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has strengthened its presence in India’s luxury hospitality segment with the acquisition of a high-end resort in Coorg. The company has acquired the 71-villa property for up to ₹560 crore through a slump sale transaction, marking a significant addition to its growing portfolio of premium destinations.

Located near Madikeri in the scenic Western Ghats, the property spans approximately 76 acres and is set to be rebranded as The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary. The company plans to further enhance the asset by expanding the inventory to 90 villas in a phased manner, aligning with its strategy of offering immersive and destination-led luxury experiences.

This acquisition reflects The Leela’s focused approach of maintaining its positioning as a pure-play luxury brand while expanding selectively in high-potential leisure markets. The company has consistently emphasised quality over scale, choosing destinations that cater to evolving consumer preferences for experiential travel.
